The charming, historic mining town of Crested Butte is what you picture when you think of a Colorado mountain town. Surrounding by mountains, lots of open fields, full of wildflowers, snow-peaked mountains, a quaint shopping district topped with colorful buildings, fantastic restaurants, eateries, and lots of friendly folks, once you arrive, you will not want to leave. Gunnison also offers up that mountain vibe. It is home to Western State University, jet-service Gunnison Crested Butte Regional Airport, Gunnison Valley Hospital, grocery stores, shops, and restaurants.

RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

CB South is part of an HOA and thus offers many outstanding amenities for kids and adults alike. There's a playground, tennis courts, large ball fields for soccer and baseball, an NHL size hockey rink, and a lighted skating pond with a warming hut. If you like to garden, there's a community garden! Of course, you'll have to take a quick hike to 'the caves' or jump on your bike and hit one of the nearby trails. Enjoy access to the groomed nordic trails in the winter or try your hand at fishing as there is access on the East River during the summer. The ever-expanding commercial district in CB South has got you covered. Coffee shop, general store, restaurant, yoga, gym, gardening center, liquor store, daycare, you name it. And more businesses keep opening up.

Once you venture out of the neighborhood, there's downhill skiing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort in the winter. In the summer, take your bike on the ski lift and downhill down or try hiking to the peak of Mt. Crested Butte. Crested Butte is known as the Wildflower Capital of Colorado, so get that camera out and spend the day exploring all the flowers.

Big Game hunting around Crested Butte and Gunnison are some of the best in the state; trophy elk, mule deer, black bear, mountain lion, moose, bighorn sheep, or antelope; take your pick! With 80% of Gunnison County made up of public land, you'll have lots of terrains to explore. The Game Management Units around the area include GMUs 53, 54, 55, 67, and 551.

There are lots of water activities in the Gunnison Valley. If you love to fish, we've got you covered. The area offers incredible river, stream and lake fishing, with state-record brown, rainbow, kokanee salmon and lake trout. Blue Mesa Reservoir, about an hour's drive, is Colorado's largest body of water. There you can boat in the summer and ice fish in the winter. You can also white-water raft, kayak, or tube down the Taylor, East, or Gunnison Rivers. So much fun!
