Scott Mabray
Associate Broker | NM
Scott Mabray is not a traditional ranch broker. Before entering real estate, he spent a decade directly managing wildlife, hunting, and livestock operations like those that determine what a New Mexico sporting property is actually worth.
As Director of Game and Fish, Land and Cattle, and Big Game Hunts for the Pueblo of Acoma, Scott oversaw roughly 500,000 acres of Tribal land in New Mexico. His responsibilities included managing trophy elk, mule deer, and pronghorn populations, operating a cow/calf program spanning more than 200,000 acres, and structuring guided hunts in one of the most competitive big game landscapes in the West. That role required constant decisions around habitat, hunting pressure, tag allocation, and revenue. The same decisions that directly impact ranch value in today's market.
New Mexico is a different market than the rest of the West. The EPLUS program, federal land adjacency, and unit-specific draw dynamics all influence pricing in ways most brokers do not fully understand. Scott has worked inside that system for years, advising landowners on EPLUS authorization, habitat incentive programs, and landowner tag strategy. He does not learn a property after it hits the market. He can evaluate its strengths, weaknesses, and realistic buyer pool from the first walkthrough.
His background is not theoretical. It is operational. He has managed habitat, adjusted herd objectives and harvest strategies, worked within state and federal frameworks, and structured hunt programs from the ground up. That experience allows him to position a ranch based on what serious buyers are actually evaluating, not just how it looks on paper.
A New Mexico native, Scott holds a Master's degree in Wildlife Biology from Utah State University and is a licensed New Mexico guide. His supporting credentials include Official Measurer status for both the Boone and Crockett Club and Pope and Young Club and lifetime membership in the Mule Deer Foundation. He remains active in the field, hunting big game across the West’s most competitive units, bird hunting with his Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, and traveling and fishing alongside his wife Erin.
Whether buying or selling, Scott’s goal is to help clients make informed decisions and achieve the best possible outcome for their property.
