HUNTING
The ranch is located in GMU 66, this is one of the most well-known trophy mule deer hunting areas not only in the state, but also in the U.S. Mule deer tags for this area can easily take 20+ years to draw; however, over the last 15+ years, this area has averaged drawing a coveted mule deer voucher every three years through registration in the landowner preference program. As far as elk hunting, you're in the middle of one of the biggest elk herds in Colorado, somedays you'll see hundreds, if not thousands of elk in one day. I've personally seen herds close to 100 near and around the property. Over the past 15+ years, other area ranches have drawn multiple elk vouchers (bull and cow) annually.
FISHING
Blue Mesa Reservoir and Cebolla Creek are two of the best fisheries around. You'll find yourself in a dream come true right out your backdoor. You can be on the water in minutes, fishing for Kokanee Salmon, monster Lake Trout, and countless Rainbows and Brown Trout.
LOCALE
Blue Mesa Ranch is a great recreational property conveniently located just 16 miles west of Gunnison, Colorado. Gunnison has nearly every amenity including shopping, grocery stores and sporting goods, regional airport, hospital, and is also home to Western Colorado University. Crested Butte's ski slopes are only a 1.5 hour drive from the ranch.
