Mountains of fun are a mere 40 miles to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, and 60 miles to Arches National Park near Moab, Utah. Newspaper Rock Recreation Site is a short drive from Monticello, and it is known for being covered with petroglyphs.

Location: Monticello is the County Seat of San Juan County. Moab, Ut is roughly 50 miles north, & Cortez, Colorado, is 60 miles east. Smaller local airports are in these three cities. Montrose, Colorado Airport (MTJ/KMTJ) is located 166 miles away, while Grand Junction, Colorado Airport (GJT/KGJT), is 168 miles away. These are the closest Regional Airports.

Small town grocery store (Blue Mountain Foods), Monticello Merc True Value, and convenience store/gas stations provide for daily needs. Cortez provides for larger items.
