Trementina Creek Ranch is a game rich hunting paradise located east of Trinidad, CO. You'll find elk, mule deer, antelope, bear, mt. lion and the occasional turkey on this property! Unlike many traditional elk hunting properties that are physically demanding, the terrain here is relatively gentle. There is a maximum of 100 ft elevation change with several small canyons and ravines traversing the ranch. Virtually anyone can get around on this property! There are 1047 deeded contiguous acres with new roads and 4 inches of class 5 road base, 3.5 miles of new fencing, new 16 ft fiberglass stock tank and several springs.
Be sure to take a moment to review the aerial and topo maps and you'll quickly notice there is a small canyon system that runs north to south which acts as a funnel for big game animals. Roughly 650 acres is covered with cedars, pinyons and oak brush while the balance of the acreage has good pasture land which attracts a local population of pronghorn antelope.
The ranch is well watered with numerous dirt tanks, springs and seasonal creeks which is critical for holding trophy game. Additionally there is a windmill with a new fiberglass tank to provide another water source for both cattle and wildlife alike on the west pasture.
There is evidence of early settlers as well as Native American's scattered all over the property. From tepee rings to cave like dwellings and stone houses, there's no shortage of places to explore! One of my personal favorite archaeological sites is just off the creek bed, under a rock ledge where a massive grindstone slab was used long ago.
This 1,047 acre ranch is located in S.E. Colorado, 30 minutes east of Trinidad near the little town Branson. You'll enjoy easy year round access off of a county maintained road which borders the properties western boundary. If you're wanting to build your own home, power is available and there are numerous building sites to choose from.
